Home Instructions After Endodontic Surgery (Apicoectomy)

After leaving the office, go directly home.
Apply an ice bag, 30 minutes on, 30 minutes off, until bedtime or for at least two to three hours.
Do not lift lip to examine stitches. This may cause them to tear.
Brush teeth in the normal manner, but be particularly careful to avoid the operated area. Do not brush over stiches.
Tomorrow rinse your mouth with salt water, 1/2 tsp. of salt to one glass of warm water, every three hours. After tomorrow rinse after meals and before bedtime.
Do not be alarmed if swelling occurs and lasts as long as a week. If you run a temperature, please call the office.
If medication is prescribed, follow instructions. If no medication is prescribed, take two Tylenol every four hours if necessary and not medically contraindicated
Come in at your appointed time to have your stitches removed
